A Modest Proposal on Censorship.
Our society has turned into a cesspool that accepts the display of violence, sex (oh, my!) and drug use. Our innocent children become corrupted by the images they see plastered around everywhere they look. A child can’t even go to a movie rated ‘R’ without hearing the F-word or seeing someone get shot in the head. How can we protect them from the world’s evils if they allow such filth into our movies? Overlook the fact that the MPAA purposely sets the rating for movies deemed too explicit and focus on the fact that such garbage can come into our little one’s brains. Boycotting or stopping the production of movies such as “Pulp Fiction” and “The Matrix” because of their foul language and violence does not infringe on the movie producers’ or the movie goers’ rights; it purges our society of these evils. Instead of forbidding your ten year old from seeing that new horror movie, take your children to see “The Passion of the Christ.” Since it portrays the last 12 hours of Jesus Christ’s life in a realistic, historically accurate fashion (right down to the Caucasian Jesus) the film deserves to educate a young audience. The violence of a 20 minute whipping scene does not traumatize children at all, but a 20 second “shoot-em-up” gang fight will warp their brains. Better than showing The Passion, we shall put all of our children born after the year 2005 into ten foot by seven foot rooms. The rooms will lack windows, doors, and all exposure to the outside world, except for a small flap on one of the walls to push a plate of food under. That way each new person will live in complete isolation. They will not have exposure to violent movies, foul rap music, or explicit novels. Since they will have no human contact, ever, they will have nobody to tell them about the world’s evils. They will live blissfully in their own isolated compartments where they will never hear foul language and never learn of the S-E-X-word. Without knowing what the ‘S’ word means, seeing an exposed b-b-breast during a sports game will not shock their poor eyes. In fact, they will never even view the game because it sparks betting sprees, cursing, and violence. We can create the perfect way to censor things; keep evil out by keeping people in! Keep evil away by keeping knowledge away! “Ignorance is bliss,” after all!
